The Lamia

Lamia, meaning witch, are what some humes call blessed or cursed humes. Having no animal characteristics, many humes actually sympathize with the spell casters. Just because Lamia means witch, does not mean that this is just a race of females. Both men and women can be of the Lamia.
Some humes call them the Zafririe, or morning spirits, because the Lamia are a predominately gentle and docile race. The Lamia are a very spiritual race, having a god or goddess for everything and anything. Things like emotions, physical feelings, events, objects such as trees and homes are all governed by some deity according to the witch race.
Many live like gypsies, traveling in small to large caravans from city to city. Others settle themselves in the outskirts of the common areas of cities, going unnoticed for as long as they can amongst the humes. City dwelling Lamia are often looked down upon by the more 'free' gypsy like Lamia.
Fullblood-
Born from parents who are full lamia and from the age of three start to show their powers. They fully mature into their abilities around the ages of sixteen to twenty-one.
Halfblood-
Born from one fullblood parent and one non-lamia parent. Sometimes they don't get their powers until their thirties, but it has been known for a halfblood to start showing their powers around the age of eighteen.
Mixed-
Born from a variety of parents. Magic appearance times vary greatly. Often times they will never get their powers, living the normal life of a hume.
Types:
There are three types of magic that the Lamia can use. Light, dark, and elemental. Here they are broken down-
Light:
Not the rarest or easiest, this is the power base that is in the middle. All Lamia are born as light casters. As they grow they must choose to stay or change their power. Mainly those who choose light tend to be healers or use their powers to learn more of the world, such as psychics or fortune tellers.
Dark:
The rarest and most dangerous of magicks. This form of magic is difficult not only to master, but to cast. If a spell is cast wrong, it can kill the user instantly. Not many casters live past the ages of seven. Those who do live are usually over-taken by the darkness of their magic, which causes their blood to turn a dark purple.
Elemental:
This is the most widely known power base. Anything from the manipulation of the wind, to being able to start a fire from thin air is under this category.
Limitation- No one person can have all of the elements under their control!!!
